THE DENVER
RESCUE MISSION
In college I
had complete three internships to fulfill my degree and they all centered on
poverty in our nation and homelessness locally where I grew up in Southern
California. My first internship was
called, Hands Across America, dedicated to educating America about the plight
of the homeless and ending with a ceremony where Americans would join hands
across the country at a certain date and time simultaneously. I learned a lot about how easily with
circumstances that just about anyone can experience poverty, much of the time
it was poverty of the spirit that manifested in homelessness. I was inspired by how many people came
together to focus a spotlight on this human dilemma, not only in America but
across the world.
This week I
had the privilege to meet with John and Anna McConnell, you may know him as the
founder of Earth Day and a leader in wanting to bring caring and awareness to
keeping our environment clean and appreciating our sacred planet, I know him as
a peace activist and a person who truly cares about the welfare of all
people. I met him through Imagine Peace
Foundation about five years ago when he came to speak at one of our Imagine
Peace Talks; he was 91 years young and made quite the impression on me with his
sweet spirit and insightful wisdom. When
I asked him to name a non profit we could sponsor in honor of the two of them
they thought of The Denver Rescue
Mission, a charity that is also close to my heart. So it is in honor of them that I hope you
join me in giving a minimum of $3-$10.00 to give hope to our homeless community
here in Denver.

in the Rocky Mountain region. Thriving today as non-denominational
